About me
It all started when I began giving tours in Berlin and Potsdam to finance my graduate studies in German history at the Humboldt University. A lecture series on "The Regional History of Berlin and Brandenburg" sparked my passion for the subject, and the flame has only grown stronger since then.
Since 1994, I have worked as a tour guide, tour manager, translator, lecturer, writer, and commentator.
I have guided thousands of groups and individuals for the EF company (the world's largest organizer of student and adult travel, many institues of higher-learning such as Alma College and Pepperdine University, the city tourism office of Potsdam, the Potsdam mayor's office, the Potsdam Institute of Sustainability Studies, the state government of Brandenburg, the Konrad-Adenauer-Institute (think tank associated with the German conservative party CDU), as well as the United States Senate and House of Representatives.
I have had work published in: History Today (U.K), the History News Network (historynewsnetwork@us), and the "Inside Europe" program of "Deutsche Welle."
I have also been a guest lecturer for the Technical University of Osnabrück, Pepperdine University, and the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art.
In addition, I have worked as a tour manager for the German National Tourism Board (Germany), Augustana College (Poland) and Davington Events (Germany, Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary.)
